Our Story
The parents of Jazmine — one of the girls at the centre of the Fordingbridge case
Jazmine is one of the girls at the centre of the Fordingbridge case — a high-profile sexual abuse case that shocked the nation and sparked a wave of public outcry. As her mother and stepfather, watching her endure what she has been through has been one of the most difficult and heartbreaking experiences of our lives. The effects do not disappear when a court case ends or when public attention moves elsewhere — they continue to affect daily life, relationships, confidence, wellbeing and a person's sense of safety.
Our experience has shown us how vital support, understanding and compassion are — not only for survivors but also for the families who stand beside them. This is why we founded the Stronger Than Silence Foundation: to ensure that survivors and their families know they are not alone.
While what happened to Jazmine will always be part of our family's story, it does not define who she is. She is a remarkable girl whose courage, resilience and determination continue to inspire us every day. Through this Foundation, we hope to turn a deeply challenging experience into something positive — supporting others and helping create a future where survivors and their families receive the care, respect and support they deserve.
The Story Behind the Foundation
Jazmine is the daughter of our founders — a girl who, at 14 and 15 years old, was among the survivors of a gang rape in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. The attacks were filmed by the perpetrators on mobile phones. The footage was shared online.
In May 2025, Judge Nicholas Rowland at Southampton Crown Court handed all three teenage perpetrators youth rehabilitation orders. They walked free that same day. The case triggered a national outcry — over 260,000 people signed a petition demanding judicial accountability, and the sentencing was referred to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.
Jazmine and her family chose to speak publicly — not for sympathy, but to demand change. Her courage in the face of a system that failed her is the reason this Foundation exists.
